I am honored to announce our December spotlight, skilled SLP Elizabeth Soriano! Elizabeth has been praised by her district for her skilled and functional service provision. On a personal note, as I’ve gotten to know Elizabeth, her compassion for her students and district shines through. On top of that, she shows leadership by giving me feedback on areas we can improve our service provision and truly makes us continuously grow and be the best company we can be. Let’s get to know more about Elizabeth!

What made you want to become a speech therapist?

I knew I wanted to be in a field where I would help people. Like some SLP's I can be a little more "type A," and when applying to college I was determined to have a major vs. "undecided." I had taken a quiz in Seventeen magazine, I am now dating myself, and one of the suggestions was speech language pathologist. At that time I wasn't even completely sure what a speech language pathologist was, and after some research I thought it sounded like a good possibility for my future career. Once I got into my major's classes I knew it was a good fit.

What made you want to join the DotCom Therapy team?

I had read a fair amount about teletherapy, and knew it would be a good fit for me as far as work/life balance with young children. I joined several teletherapy social media groups to get a feel of what teletherapy entailed, and did get a good perspective of the pros and cons of teletherapy. It also was evident that your satisfaction with teletherapy depended a lot on the support you were given by the company you worked for.

DotCom Therapy started to come up a lot on the internet and in social media feeds, all of which had the central message of what a great company it was especially in the support that was provided to incoming speech language pathologists. Once I realized that DotCom Therapy was one of the few, if not only, teletherapy companies founded by two Speech Language Pathologists I knew I wanted to be a part of this team.

What has been your favorite thing about teletherapy?

I am more efficient in providing services effectively in the schedule I've laid out and not getting distracted in the day to day issues happening at the school. It has provided flexibility so I am still  involved in both of my son's school activities and am there when they get off the bus. So that's two things even thought I could go on and on.

Fill in the blank. When I’m not working, you’ll most likely find me….

spending time with my family! Here we are in the Outerbanks, NC summer 2018. Hunter [6], me, Fernando, Logan [9], and of course our basset hounds Cash and Presley.
